The aim of this research is to reveal critical insights about the nature of the interaction between art theory and psychology in the period 1890-1910. In affording enormous psychological impact to line and color, art was not only formalized but also psychologized. This project examines whether historical hypotheses from art theory are actually testable and, by extension, empirically provable.
Soon the meaning of lines will be revealed to us (PhD project)
