Paula Angermair joined the Connecting Minds Project as a predoctoral researcher in November 2023.

Paula is a doctoral candidate in neuroaesthetics at the ARTIS Lab under the supervision of Matthew Pelowski. As part of the Unlocking the Muse team, she investigates the intersection of neuropharmacology, creativity, and artistic expression in the context of Parkinson’s disease. Central to her research are anti-parkinsonian drugs and their impact on the artistic brain, the role of dopamine - and the question of what makes an artist.

Paula obtained a dual bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and Tel Aviv University in psychology, with a concentration in neuroscience and painting, and holds a master's degree in cognitive science from the University of Barcelona. She has gained research experience at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Columbia University, and Bellvitge Hospital.
